Our mission is to help newcomers integrate into both the professional and social fabric of Kansas City. We offer networking opportunities, essential resources, and a welcoming community that fosters a sense of belonging, making their transition smoother and encouraging lasting engagement with the city.
New2KC was launched in response to the success of Back2KC, which has effectively attracted over 40 former Kansas Citians back to the city. While Back2KC reintroduces professionals to Kansas City's innovation landscape, New2KC extends a warm Midwest welcome to those who have recently relocated here, especially those without established connections.

Jessica Powell
Jessica Powell is a key figure in Kansas City’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, leveraging her expertise in organizational development and strategic partnerships to make a lasting impact on the startup community. At Startland, she led the annual Startup Crawl, connecting hundreds to the local startup scene, and through KC Collective, she facilitated $1M in resources for early-stage companies. As co-producer of Startup Hustle, she helped the podcast reach 7M downloads, sharing startup stories worldwide.
Jessica’s commitment shines through her leadership in Back2KC, which has reconnected nearly 200 former Kansas Citians to the city’s business scene since 2018, driving talent return and growth.
Darcy Howe
Darcy Howe is the Founder and Managing Director of KCRise Fund, a venture capital co-investment fund fueling early-stage businesses in the Kansas City area. With over three decades of investment expertise, Darcy has played an instrumental role in driving innovation in the Midwest. Her leadership extends to creating Back2KC, an annual event that reconnects successful professionals with Kansas City's booming innovation ecosystem, reigniting their ties to the community.
Known for her collaborative approach, Darcy champions transformative business models with lasting impact, shaping Kansas City into a vibrant hub of venture capital and growth.
